Getting Windows Updates from Microsoft Site:

Windows Update is a service provided by Microsoft that provides updates for the Microsoft Windows operating system and its installed components. An optional feature provides updates for other Microsoft Windows software, such as Microsoft Office, Microsoft Visual Studio, SQL Server and many more.

Security updates are delivered on the second Tuesday of each month, but security updates can be delivered whenever a software update is required to prevent an exploit targeting Windows users. Windows Update can be configured to install updates automatically, ensuring that a computer is always up-to-date and not vulnerable to computer worms and other malware.

There are two ways for getting update from Microsoft.
1. Windows Server Update Services (In my coming post we’ll look how to install and configure WSUS server)
2. Microsoft website
Select Start > All Programs > Windows Update
Follow the instructions and install all available updates, including Internet Explorer 7



For getting update automatically you need to do some changes as follows,
1. Configure ‘AutoUpdate’ ON.
Right Click My computer > Properties > Windows Updates > Click Automatic Updates (Recommended) > Apply > Ok.



2. Make changes in Local Group Policy as,
Start > Run > Type gpedit.msc > Enter and make change as follows,
